HTC Tattoo could be the first ‘real’ free smartphone

Now that HTC has unveiled its fourth Android handset, one begins to wonder what is next for the Taiwanese company and indeed the Android handsets business as a whole. HTC was the first to release a phone running on Google’s open smartphone operating system, and now that it has shown off the Tattoo (formerly known as "Click") the company appears to have foregone design innovation in favor of releasing a cheap device.

Apple sells 1 million new iPhones in three days
APPLE chief executive Steve Jobs says one million new iPhones have been sold in just three days.
“Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning,” Mr Jobs said in his first statement since taking medical leave in January.
The iPhone 3GS went on sale in the US last Friday, and Mr Jobs said the one million mark was hit by Sunday.
The new handset goes on sale in Australia this Friday.

PSP Phone: A logical next step for Sony?
Maybe there is a good reason that the Sony Ericsson PSP Phone rumor keeps resurfacing.
The two-year old “PSP Phone” rumor has been resurrected yet again, this time because of a weekend article in respected Japanese business journal Nikkei Shimbun. The article says Sony now has plans to set up a PSP Phone development team in July which will be comprised of Sony Ericsson and SCE workers.
Rumors of a PlayStation Portable-branded Sony Ericsson device began when a 2007 patent application for a gaming phone was filed by the joint venture. The device in the patent is designed with a 90-degree pivoting screen not unlike the LG VX9400, and d-pad style buttons rather than the traditional numeric keypad. Earlier this year, a Christmas 2009 launch date for the device was rumored as well.

Sony Ericsson produces a 12 megapixel monster
Sony Ericsson today officially announced Saito, its new 12 megapixel camera-equipped flagship mobile device that was formerly known as Idou.
Saito is the new high end camera phone, but doesn’t carry the CyberShot label.
All the details of the S60-based device have been revealed. Formerly, it was simply known as a 3.5″ 16×9 touchscreen device with the aforementioned high pixel density camera and associated xenon flash that dropped Sony Ericsson’s customary M2 memory card in favor of MicroSD.

Microsoft Disowns Zune Phone Teaser Tweets
Posts on Twitter had the smartphone set believing Microsoft was prepping to enter what’s shaping up to be a June handset melee. The tweets hinted at the arrival of a Zune phone and appeared to have been posted by a Microsoft insider. They also emerged at around the same time as a new Zune ad attacking iTunes. Microsoft, however, says the posts are fake.

messages hinting at the possible emergence of a Zune phone — posted by a user who appeared to be a Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT)
insider — drew a considerable amount of attention recently, especially considering their timing. They came to light at around the same time Microsoft launched a new ad touting the benefits of its Zune Pass music service over its rival, Apple’s (Nasdaq: AAPL)
iTunes.
The tweets in question urged readers not to buy the iPhone or Palm (Nasdaq: PALM)
Pre and hinted that a new Microsoft product launch was in the works. They kicked off buzz, because both Apple’s next-generation iPhone and the Palm Pre are expected to debut in June. The emergence of yet another major smartphone would shake the market up even more. The messages also appeared to play into existing rumors about the direction of the Zune platform.
Microsoft, though, says it has no links to the account that posted the messages.
