Adobe Camera Raw 5.5 plug-in and DNG Converter 5.5
Adobe today released the Photoshop Camera Raw 5.5 plug-in and DNG Converter 5.5 Release Candidates available immediately for download at http://labs.adobe.com. The update extends raw file support to four of the latest popular camera model releases, including the Nikon D300s, Nikon D3000, Olympus E-P1 and Panasonic DMC-FZ35. The Release Candidate also includes a correction to the demosaic algorithms in the raw conversion process for Bayer sensor cameras with unequal green response.

Android grows too large for G1
Even though T-Mobile continues to deny it, the Android community has resigned to the fact that the T-Mobile G1 (also known as the HTC Dream) will not receive any significant upgrades beyond “Cupcake,” the Android software update from last April.
The simple fact is that there is not enough memory on the G1 to support a much bigger OS, and even equipping the device with Cupcake was reportedly problematic. “We knew that internal flash space was going to be very tight on the G1 and we kept the system partition tight on purpose,” Jean-Baptiste Queru, a software engineer at Google said on Twitter last week.

Qik: Yet another brilliant service crippled on iPhone
Mobile video streaming site Qik, which was introduced last year is leading the charge into the next generation of the Web. Think of it as a real-time YouTube where a user’s mobile phone is paired with an online channel that broadcasts live video streamed from his handset camera over 3G. iPhone app tracks trams in real-time
Yarra Trams has launched an iPhone version of its popular tramTRACKER program, allowing patrons to automatically find arrival information for trams in Melbourne.
The free iPhone application provides real-time information about the location of each tram on the network, using the phone’s inbuilt GPS system.
Yarra Trams chief executive Dennis Cliche said travellers had used the existing tramTRACKER phone and online service 1.8 million times since its launch in 2006.

Mobile software Monday: Evernote comes to the BlackBerry platform
One of my favorite mobile apps/services is Evernote because it works across multiple mobile devices with native clients (iPhone and Windows Mobile) and via email while also working on PC and Mac computers. The folks at Evernote have stated they are working on clients for more mobile platforms and the next version is now ready for RIM BlackBerry owners. I’ve spent a few days using the latest BlackBerry client and you can check out some screenshots of it in action in my image gallery.

Phase One releases Capture One 4.8
Phase One has announced version 2.8 of Capture One 4, PRO and DB RAW workflow software. The latest update provides support for the P40+ and Olympus E-620. It also provides improved camera support for the P65+, Leica D-Lux 4 and Olympus E-30 digital cameras.
